MITS was a great day for me! I took home a Champion Ribbon from my entries in novice performance, and I placed in the ribbons in almost every class! Hotrod won a third with my "Beach Ride" entry, wearing a saddle made by my friend Madelyne. Madelyne sells tack from her website here. My entries for other performance! In the end, I took home Grand Champion Novice Performance, and a prize set of Breyer's GG Valentine and Heartbreaker! And a Huckleberry Bay door prize model! I was also lucky enough to be able to do a trade with Madelyne and get an awesome bareback endurance set out of the deal! I also bought a *few* other things, but that's a different post entirely! Sneak Peek!
Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to do a post on Hamlet, yes he is one of the 2014 Breyerfest Celebration Models so as usual I took a lot of pictures!

I thought since I am going to MITS 2014 this weekend I would do a post on packing show models. I just started experimenting with making them this week and I have come up with a very quick and easy design. To start cut a piece of fleece or felt to 8 inches by 15 inches. Now fold the top end down 1 1/2 inches, and fold the bottom up to line up with the crease. Pin it! Time to sew! Starting at the top... sew down to the very bottom on both sides. Great, you now have a rectangle of fabric! Turn it inside out... Ta-da! Yer done!
Today's post is going to be on the beautiful Drum horse breed, with the very photogenic stallion Mariah's Boon! Boon was the 2012 Breyerfest Celebration Model and was invited as a guest horse to the 2013 Models In The Sun show, a great live show in Ocala Florida. Boon horses are around 17 hands tall and heavily feathered , the mane is also very thick and full. The best quality of this breed is their gentle willing temperament, even as a stallion Boon was wonderful and lowered his head for the younger kids to pet him. Boon horses are also very funny, curious, and entertaining! Outside the clubhouse where the show was being held there was a cement pig statue, which Boon was not sure what to think of! I think if the pig had winked he would have bolted. If you look at his upper lip he also has a mustache!
I hope you enjoyed the pictures. The last Wednesday in April I submitted three photos to our libraries photo contest, not expecting to win. Yesterday I was invited to the photography award reception for the photographers and one of my pictures was awarded first place in the Landmark category! The winning picture is of the splash fountain at the Coligny Beach Park. My other two entries were awarded third place ribbons!
Welcome to the official blog of Flying B Ranch! My name is Becky and I make tiny tack for Schleich, LB/PP scale models, the actual scale is 1:20. I hope you like my tack and please comment! I enjoy all the aspects of model horses. I love showing (especially performance), making props and tack, and customizing. Hopefully I'll be able to have how-to's and tips on here! I live on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina with my family and my little dog Bear.
