Life has been very busy lately... including but not limited to packing up my tack desk for two months. But it is set up and running again! Boy is it good to be fiddling with every little thing again. The very first thing I whipped together was a yellow Eskadron (c) style saddle pad... but when I had the idea to make a hackamore it morphed into the need for a matchy matchy cross country set. With not one matching pad, but two. Because the [non existent] rider needs options. Until the next studio adventure,

This weekend was a little hectic, but I did find time to whip this padded noseband halter together in between painting and staining barn planks! I only finished it up this afternoon by adding the breakaway crownpiece and a soft cotton lead in matching colors. As of today it is for sale for $8.75 ppd in the US, but it is cross listed.
I'm not kidding around with this barn! Yesterday I cut just about all the planks and other wood pieces I'll need and began to seal them with this lovely golden pecan stain. I'm eager to start building but first I've got to get some 'beams' to frame the barn itself from the craft or hardware store.
I've been enjoying the winter, the weather is great for being at the barn! Over Christmas I finished this commissioned set and shipped it out. Silly me never did get around to trying it on Bozeman. :P I've also made a little change to my style of collecting... I am no longer going to be buying traditionals (I haven't actually bought any all year..) unless I am at a live show and 'picking' in person. The reasons for this are firstly, I have a herd that is plenty big enough for me to easily show performance. Reason no. 2 is that I am pretty inspired by all the scale barn photos I've seen! I loved messing around with my handmade Schleich barn, why did I stop? Plus the 2017 Schleich are gorgeous! So I've already started on a totally new barn, way better than the last one. Because when I see photos like this: I want to work with tiny tack again. Except this time I've had a little practice. I'm sooooo excited!
I had a fantastic Christmas, I hope everyone of you did too! I've also had a fantastically busy Christmas! On the 24th I ran in a local 5k. On Christmas Day I had a great time with my family. (and baked my favorite candied pecans!) Today I finished my current commission by adding the reins to the bridle. Tomorrow I will be crazy busy too! I hope everyone continues to have a great Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
