I decided to do a post on the strange and sometimes confusing hobby lingo, I have decided to because I think it can be very confusing to new showers especially, for instance I thought LSQ was a football team! I will try to list the terms in alphabetical order,
The index is courtesy of http://identifyyourbreyer.com/index.html Oh... to apologize for the lack of pictures I will give you a few random "horsey" ones! These are topiary horses from a garden in Canada, they were about 15 feet tall each! Sorry, this one isn't even remotely "horsey" just cute! Bear does act like a horse though... His favorite treats are carrots, he likes jumping like a horse, and whenever food is involved he goes crazy, which would explain his crazed expression, I was holding a carrot. I love this picture, except for the sailboat mast in the harbor behind him, I hope everyone liked the post and the pictures!

It is amazing how quickly this... turned into this! And this... into this! My very first traditional set! This was my first try at a traditional scale saddle and I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I would consider the saddle PSQ because I know there are some *minor* problems but practice makes perfect, and this was practice. I am not entirely happy with the way the jockeys wrap around the horn and how chunks of glue are visible, I also think the jockeys are too far up on the horn... I was also able to make a red, white, and blue gaming bridle, red tie-down, and a red breastplate! I *think* this is how a tie-down is used... I have also been experimenting with a bandage material called Coban, it is a medical tape that is very easy to use and only sticks to itself! I have been trying it on all kinds of scales, when cut to different thicknesses it works perfectly! (Sorry for the GI Joe, her other glove has throwing stars on it!) I was in the tacking-up mood so it put my new bareback set by Madelyne on Tom Sawyer, enjoy! Hopefully soon I will be able to take pictures of some models on the beach!
Yippee, I just found the rest of the pictures! The first class, Novice Other Performance. The next class was... Novice Other English! The nest class was Novice English Pleasure, I was super excited to see my side saddle set win! Then came Novice Other Western, *still setting up!* Ocala Breeze, we were literally driving through Ocala on our way to the show when I bought this guy! Sparticus, (the mule.) Odysseus, the "king." I was soooo busy taking pictures of my friend Grace's and my own horse Tow Sawyer in front of a picture backdrop I forgot to take pictures of western pleasure! *drat* (I did get one, sorta!) The last class was Grand and Reserve Champion. Strangely enough Downtown Lights who placed third in Novice English Pleasure came back to win Grand Champion! Below I have attached a slideshow of Open Performance pictures, I hope you like them! I did not own or make any of the tack in the slideshow above.
Sorry for the break... after MITS I took a short tackmaking hiatus, which is now over! Recently I moved my tack-making desk into my "Craft Closet" which is now my studio. I keep all of my horses on these shelves, the bottom shelve has performance scenes and dioramas on it. I have mostly collected schleichs, although since I want to progress to open performance showing I am trying to collect more traditional models and perfect my traditional scale tack. So far this is my traditional collection consists of (from left to right), Sapphire, Tow Sawyer (with handmade base), a Giselle mold without a name yet, and a Child Star mold without a name yet, all are LSQ. I also have two body quality Mistys, Sea Star, and Scribbles. Here is a better picture of my new GG Valentine and Heartbreaker! Next I have my "Rolly Cart" which is full of my leather, some tools (pliers, leather punch, etc.) patterns, and ribbon. I also "borrowed" a computer for reference (and sometimes entertainment!) Next is my work in progress pail, I am currently working on a traditional scale barrel saddle. I didn't realize it was a "Candy Cane" edition until after I started it! When I am not working at my desk it looks like this... When I am working it looks like this... except with skiver, leather bits, and pattern pieces everywhere! I hope you liked the pictures!
Today's post... is on... that's right... Hamlet! Hamlet is a working therapy horse from Gentle Carousel and with his friend Magic and many other teams of therapy horses has visited over 25,000 adults and children each year! Look at that HAIR! See! SEE?! All to soon it was time for him to leave. I really had a great time meeting Hamlet!
